President of Rotary in Britain and Ireland, Rotarian Peter King has paid a visit to Grantham

The 2014-15 President of Rotary in Britain and Ireland, Rotarian Peter King has paid a visit to Grantham. President Bob McKinlay and the members of the Grantham Kesteven Rotary Club were pleased to host him at their weekly meeting, along with President Mos Kalbassi, members of the Grantham Rotary Club and Rotarians from all over the District.
Peter King’s visit gave the Grantham Kesteven Rotary Club an opportunity to display all eight boxes of their international charity, Trade-Aid which sends humanitarian aid all round the world. Trade-Aid’s Business in a Box helps individuals take control of their lives with self-respect and dignity.

Since it was founded in 2007, over 800 boxes of new tools and other equipment have been sent to 35 countries worldwide, and the club has raised the huge sum of £350,000 through talks round the country to Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs and other organisations.

After visiting the Trade-Aid display and examining the boxes and their contents, RIBI President Peter King commented, ‘It is amazing to see the display and the amount of care, thought and work that has gone into it.’ He continued, ‘Trade-Aid is a wonderfully creative International product’.

Roger Graves also gave a talk on the Grantham Rotary Club’s highly successful Swimarathon and Global Swimarathon.

Peter King finished by saying, ‘I am honoured to be here this evening and thank everyone involved in Trade-Aid and the Swimarathon.’

Trade-Aid’s founder, Rotarian John Asher declared that the evening had been ‘a fantastic success’.
