92nd ANNUAL CONFERENCE


DG Elect PETER BERRY…..

is pleased to invite all Rotarians, Partners, Inner Wheel members, Rotaractors and guests to our 2020 District Conference
from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September.

The venue is the brand new state-of-the art International Convention Centre (ICC WALES) situated at the Celtic Manor Resort, Nr. Newport South Wales.

In response to many requests delegates may now bring a GUEST to the GALA DINNER @ £60 pp.  Please advise accordingly if you will be inviting a guest.

FIRST TIME Conference attendees and their partners are eligible for a SPECIAL DISCOUNT of 20% from the package price of £100. Please let us know if you are a first time delegate by adding a comment in the response box at the end of the registration form, so that we can apply the discount and make a refund.



AN OVERVIEW OF THE CONFERENCE PROGRAMME

“The Friday night event will be all inclusive where you can sample 12 German wines – 6 either side of a break for Italian Tapas – and take part in very enjoyable activities!.

If you like letting your hair down and doing something different this is the event for you! Why not book a “club table” and enjoy the event with great fellowship.

The Saturday night GALA DINNER  (see menu below) is to be followed by  a singer and band covering a broad range of music to suit all tastes. Concluding with a Last Night at the Proms session.

We will have a Welsh harpist playing in the background for our meal in the Woodland Suite with it’s superb floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Coldra Woods.

Free range chicken ballotine wrap in Bayonne ham, coronation dressing (E,SD,G)
SF Broccoli cream cheese choux bun with toasted sunflower seeds (E,G,D)
SF Pulled Welsh beef Wellington with curried remoulade (G, E,D. Mu)

Main Course

Herb Roasted Pork Loin
Pork Rilletes, leek and potato terrine, roasted carrot, greens, pork jus
or
Goat’s cheese pithivier (V,G,D,E)
Squash puree, asparagus,confit potato, tomato and grain mustard hollandaise

Dessert

Strawberries and Cream Bar (V,S,G,D,E,SD)
White chocolate and strawberry bar, strawberry gel, chocolate truffle, back pepper brandy snap

There will be a Golf events on the Montgomerie Course at the Celtic Manor Resort – Price £50. Primarily on Friday Morning with tee times between 10am and 10.40am with the opportunity to play on Saturday afternoon, between 1.00pm and 1.40pm. Extra prizes for nearest the pin, longest drive, sponsored by Celtic Manor.

In addition, on Saturday afternoon there will be a wide range of activities for you to enjoy – Gin or Whisky tasting, Welsh Cake Making.  More details as we go along.

You can join in our Walk for Polio on Saturday morning before the start of Conference. commencing 8.00am. A gentle stroll around the beauty of the Coldra Valley, whilst raising a little money towards Polio Eradication.

The ICC is a brand new State of the Art venue that has all of the facilities you could want.

Very close by is the fabled Celtic Manor Resort with it’s Spa, Shops and range of Restaurants.

You can chose from a wide range of local hotels including the Resort itself.

Geoff Mackey – Well known at the Rotary podium, Geoff has served three Districts, RIBI and RI in a wide range of posts. He is a Bequest Society member, a GSE scholar and Past Rotaract Chairman GB&I; he was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2004 and in 2005 was honoured to receive an RI Service Above Self Award. 

Sir Martyn  Lewis CBE  (A Welsh television news presenter and journalist. He was a presenter for various BBC News programmes between 1986 and 1999 and was known for his involvement in the coverage of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997. He is also active in the charity sector and is the Founder & Executive Chairman of YourBigDay Ltd)

 


What does District Conference have for you ?

● Be inspired ? – our district always has fantastic speakers at conference, ones that will inspire Rotarians to continue what we do in Rotary in order to improve the lives of others.

● Be motivated ? – meeting and talking to Rotarians from around the district is always amazing, just hearing how much we do should easily motivate you to do more.

THE MONTGOMERIE COURSE

A dramatic par 69 challenge designed by Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie.

Colin Montgomerie has called on all his Ryder Cup experience to create a course with many exciting tests of strategy.

Montgomerie has also drawn on his roots in Scottish links golf to create a traditional feel enhanced by deep and penal pot bunkers.

Spectacular views abound with dramatic tee shots over valleys and breathtaking downhill shots. Host course for various professional and high ranking amateur events.

The conference golf events wil be played  on the Montgomerie Course  – Price £50.

Tee times available on the Friday Morning between 10.00am and 10.40am and/or on Saturday between 1.00pm and 1.40pm must be pre-booked with  Malcolm Riddle (Blaby Meridian) by completing the comments form at the foot of this web page,  at least 4 weeks prior to the event.

Buggies are available @£20 but be pre-booked direct with the golf pro shop.
