Rotary District 1070 Youth Service


                                                                                                       Theme – ‘THROUGH MY EYES’


Give youth the platform to share their creative talents with a wide audience by supporting the new Young Artist competition.

Provide an opportunity to express themselves with their interpretation of this year’s theme ‘Through my eyes’, and submit a two dimensional piece of artwork.

Their artwork will go through an initial local stage, followed by the district heats and then on to the national final.

The competition is open to artists aged between 7 and 17.

Objectives: This competition aims to encourage young people to:

  • Express their ideas through any artistic medium other than photography
  • Interpret a given theme
  • Use artistic skill, imagination and creativity


This competition is open to all young people who must be entered by their local Rotary Club who may arrange their own competitions.

Entrants can be from Schools, Youth Clubs, Scouts & Guides etc. or individuals..

Clubs are required to let the District Organiser know if they intend to participate in the district and National rounds of the competition by Friday 6th December 2019

Dependent on the number of clubs taking part  the top three in each age range will be eligible for the District Competition.

There are three age categories, with ages taken on 30 August 2019.

Junior             Aged 7-10 years (born between 01/09/2008 and 31/08/2012)
Intermediate  Aged 11-13 years (born between 01/09/2005 and 31/08/2009)
Senior           Aged 14-17 years (born between 01/09/2001 and 31/08/2005)

The theme is ‘Through my eyes’.  This theme can be interpreted in as many and varied ways as the entrants’ imaginations allow.

Entries: Entries should be preferably no larger than A2 size, but must be easily transportable.

Any media is acceptable, including ceramics and other art forms excepting Photographs

Entries will be judged on

  • Imagination and style
  • Content and composition
  • Inspiration

Artwork will not be returned unless specifically requested, but winners’ entries will be retained for display at the Volunteer Expo at the beginning of May 2020.

All entries to the District competition MUST be accompanied by a completed official entry form  by Friday 28th February 2020

Collective entries from a group or class are encouraged, and will be judged as a separate category.
